It’s giving…Better Housekeeping
In January, after a long search for a handmade broom, a broommaking class came into my experience. I had spent an evening venting to my husband about the lack of brooms for purchase - many creators have shop updates (which we all know is like buying concert tickets - you’re luck if it doesn’t sell out in the first 5 seconds) Overnight, a class held locally was shared online - this is how fast spirit works for me *most of the time* I purchased my ticket IMMEDIATELY! The class ended up being everything I wanted, and was relatively easy to pick up the skill. Weeks later, I had supplies and tools to begin making more - what’s a witch with only one broom?
As we watched the world navigate the horrors of deportation and the Christian Nationalist authroitarian regime, especially in my home state of Minnesota, it became clear that I wanted to find a way to support those who were most impacted by this collectively felt pain. I created a custom broom of reds and pinks and a white stone - tied to the idea of love and collective connection. It garnered more success than I anticipated and I went on to create 3 other brooms sent to Washington, Idaho and Texas. The full proceeds of each broom was donated to a Minnesota Support fund, and for the first time, maybe in my life, it was such a heartfelt and authentic-to-me way to show support.
My excitement hasn’t quit! I have loved the slow meditation of it all. My Taurus parts value the quality and uniqueness of something not purchased from Target or Amazon. Side Note: We’re in a time where small businesses with handmade goods are going to rise. Get ready!
If you too are wanting something more personally crafted, better for the environment, and made with love and custom flair, let’s chat! I’d love to create with you!
